Welcome to Minnesota Independence College & Community.
We transform lives everyday.
At MICC, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to discover their full potential and live a vibrant life.
Our students, young adults with ASD or other learning differences, begin with a unique, three-year program to gain the skills they need to become employed and live an independent life.
MICC students live with classmates in apartments, where they can immediately apply the skills they learn. Through individualized, experiential curriculum, they explore all that the Twin Cities has to offer.
After they graduate, MICC is here to help with the challenges that occur in life: friendships, roommates, work, health, wellness, community involvement, aging parents, and finding the balance we all need.
We leverage the uniqueness of the Twin Cities metro area with all its excitement, challenges and diversity to teach our students skills to become independent, because we believe a vibrant life comes from continuous learning in the world.
At MICC, students learn how to use public transportation – including buses, light-rail trains and airplanes – to travel to work, learning centers, entertainment venues, and for many of our students, back to visit their hometown.
We consider the Southdale YMCA our Athletic Center, the Woodlake Nature Center our Natural Science Center, and the Southdale Library our Campus Library, to name just a few.
